Golden Gate Park San Francisco
Stow Lake in San Francisco is a popular destination when it comes to the city's parks. With Golden Gate Park being just down the road from Metro Hotel, plan an afternoon exploring the many beautiful and artistic attractions of the area, including Stow Lake.
Walk the paths, over bridges or consider a boat ride. Stow Lake Boat Rentals provides row boats, pedal boats, and electric boats for rent. These make for a peaceful and romantic time around the lake where you can catch a glimpse of a waterfall, lush flora and pass under waterfalls. Be sure to bring your camera as the lake provides a great opportunity to see wildlife and fun bridges. Boat rentals are available 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday – Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday – Sunday. After you're finished on the water, retreat to the nearby inviting café where a menu full of delicious homemade items is served up; or pack a picnic and enjoy it in one of the picturesque spots throughout the area.
Driving Directions (about 10 minutes):
Depart Metro Hotel and turn right onto Page Street, after 1 block turn right onto Broderick Street, after two blocks turn left onto Fell Street, follow Fell Street along the Golden Gate Park Panhandle, follow Fell Street to the left at the fork to enter in to the park, follow John F. Kennedy Drive through the park 1.2 miles and turn left onto Stow Lake Drive, follow the road to the location of Stow Lake Boat Rentals.
Walking Directions (about 45 minutes):
2.3 miles from Metro Hotel - Depart the hotel and head north on Divisadero Street, at Oak Street turn left, follow Oak Street along the Golden Gate Park panhandle until you reach the main area of the park, Stow Lake is located towards the middle of the park past the de Young Museum and Japanese Tea Garden.
