Civic Center

San Francisco, California Activities

There are always plenty of things to do in San Francisco. Located at the "bottom" of Market Street, San Francisco's Civic Center is made from a large complex of buildings that includes the domed City Hall, an Opera House and Davis Symphony Hall.

Here you'll find a huge number of community happenings and cultural events: the Civic Center is home to a number of performers and museums including the Asian Arts Museum, San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the Public Library. Musical theater, ballet, jazz, opera and symphony orchestras all have a home here. The landscaped plaza connecting these buildings has often been a stage for frequent demonstrations, including gay marriages performed by mayor Gavin Newsom.
